With ‘a million-dollar sound’ (Pinchas Zukerman), Luka Faulisi is one of the most promising violinists of his generation.
Having started to play the violin at the age of three, Luka was a student of Boris Belkin at the Conservatorium Maastricht in the Netherlands. During the 2024/25 academic year Luka undertakes the Advanced Diploma course at the Royal Academy of Music under the mentorship of Professor Robin Wilson. Luka is recipient of the highly distinguished Bicentenary Scholarship from the Academy.
Pavel Berman describes Luka as an ‘an incredibly gifted virtuoso violinist’. Flautist Emmanuel Pahud praises Luka as ‘an extremely talented young man with great instrumental abilities and a strong musical expression’ and according to Jean-Jacques Kantorow Luka possesses ‘incredible facilities’.
Recent European concerti highlights include British debut with the Liverpool Philharmonic at the Royal Albert Hall; Finnish debut with the Oulu Symphony; Polish debut with the Szczecin Philharmonic; Italian debut with the Orchestra Filharmonica di Torino; Serbian debut with the Serbian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra at the Kolarac Hall in Belgrade; North Macedonian debut with FAME'S European Orchestral Performing Institute, Montenegrin debut with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra and Portuguese debut at Sintra Festival with Orquestra Municipal de Sintra. In summer 2024, Luka made an acclaimed debut at Radio France Montpellier Festival performing several recitals and focusing on the pieces by Bach, Brahms, Ysaÿe and Bartók. Luka’s Asian presence is also growing having collaborated recently with the Macao Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta.
Across the 2024/25 season, Luka makes distinguished orchestral debuts in Paris with Orchestre National d'Île-de-France (Khachaturian Violin Concerto) at the Philharmonie de Paris and La Seine Musicale; Irish debut with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland (Bruch Violin Concerto); Norwegian debut with Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (Khachaturian Violin Concerto) and Slovenian Radio & Television Symphony Orchestra (RTV) at Ljubljana’s Cankar Hall (Chausson Poeme for violin and orchestra and Ravel Tzigane).
In Spring 2024, Sony Classical released Luka’s highly acclaimed recording of Vivaldi’s pioneering masterpiece, The Four Seasons with Orkiestra Historyczna and Martyna Pastuszka. According to Sony Classical, “this venture into Baroque repertoire further proves the Italian-French-Serbian violinist’s versatility and virtuosity while underlining his key strength as a musical storyteller.” “Luka Faulisi is undoubtedly a young virtuoso of high calibre”, writes the Strad. Luka’s debut recital album “Aria”, recorded with the pianist Itamar Golan, was released by Sony Classical International in Spring 2023 and won multiple awards including a Diapason d'Or and a Choc from Classica. Faulisi featured on Classical FM’S 2023 Rising Stars ’30 Under 30′ list and was selected as one of BBC Magazine’s Rising Stars in Spring 2023.
